What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage is a relaxing treatment in which the head and scalp receive stimulating massage along with simple meditative techniques.

Where did it originate?

Part of Ayurvedic treatment, Indian Head Massage is a system of preventative medicine and healthcare dating back 5,000 years.

In India it is a ritual among families to share 'Champi' – head massage.Mothers would stroke their daughter's hair to promote its growth and health.

Narendra Mehta grew up in India where head massage was integral in his family life. He came to England in the 70's to train as a therapist and in 1978 returned to India to study the practice and benefits of champissage, extending it to include the neck, shoulders and face. On his return to England , he developed a sequence of movements that form Indian Head Massage.

What does an Indian Head Massage involve?

The treatment involves massage, shiatsu and acupuncture techniques on the upper back, shoulders, arms/hands, neck, scalp and face. This method relaxes tense areas but also helps to rebalance the energy, clearing any negative areas.

How will an Indian Head Massage benefit me?
